Dehradun, June 25
District Magistrate Ravinath Raman held a meeting with regard to ensuring adequate preparations for Kanwar mela in the city today. He said water arrangement with 10 water tankers would be made by Jal
Sansthan. Some 100 temporary toilets would be built in Rishikesh.
Cleanliness would be undertaken by Nagar Palika.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer said since the Kanwariyas came from Raiwala route to Rishikesh, hence the first aid health centre would be set up at Raiwala. Besides this, a medical centre had been set up at SPS Government Hospital and bus-stand, Rishikesh. Signposts would be installed on the way to guide pilgrims about the location of these health centres.
The District Magistrate directed the Distrct Education Office to keep the government and semi-government education institutes closed in Rishikesh on special Kanwar days, which will fall on July 1, 14 and 17.
He also directed the SSP to depute sufficient police force and prepare a traffic plan on the yatra route. He said the mass kitchen would be organised wherever it had been organised every year. He also directed to hold another meeting at Nagar Palika on Thursday on the issue where he would instruct to inform councillors, MLAs and local traders to attend the meeting.
