Pithoragarh, September 4
Employees of the state government went on a strike in protest against reservation in promotions here today. They also announced to go on an indefinite strike from tomorrow.
The employees gathered at the District Magistrate’s office and sat on a dharna to protest the government indecisiveness with regard to reservation in promotions. “We have decided to go on an indefinite strike until the government takes a decision to give us justice,” said Nandan Singh Kanyal, coordinator of the Uttarakhand Adhikari, Karmachari Sikshak Sanyukta Morcha.
However, the employees supporting reservation in promotions said they would resume work from tomorrow as the state government had taken a decision to grant them their constitutional right. “We do not want to give more inconvenience to the common people and will resume work from Wednesday,” said Mahesh Murari, leader of pro-reservation employees
