The Chief Electoral Office, Uttarakhand, has made a request to the Election Commission of India for a helicopter to be pressed into service for ferrying poll parties to the remote areas for the Tehri bypoll.According to the election office, a helicopter will carry five polling officials to Gangotri and eight to Purola in Uttarkashi districts before October 10. "As most of the roads are not in good shape and several routes leading to the polling stations are in a bad condition in many places. The helicopter will ferry the polling party to their destination," said Radha Raturi, Chief Electoral Officer.
