Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has said that all promises made in the past for the development of the Sitarganj area would be fulfilled by all means.

Addressing a public rally after paying floral tributes on the statue of Subash Chandra Bose at Nakuliya, Sitarganj, today, Bahuguna said efforts were being made for a comprehensive development of the state.
He said his government was committed to providing corruption-free governance and to realise it, all should work with honesty. He said persons involved in taking and giving commission would be dealt sternly.
Bahuguna said fund allocated for the development of tribal areas should be utilised strictly for those areas only. He laid emphasis on establishing textile and spice parks to generate employment opportunities.
Bahuguna also laid the foundation stones of the Sitarganj- Bijti road, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts at Rudrapur and the head regulator of Begul Canal. He said priority would be given to the areas deprived of development works so far.
He said the construction of various hydroelectric projects would begin shortly and the power situation would improve by 2013 in the state.
Revenue and Cooperative Minister Yashpal Arya stressed on vocational training and said the establishment of industrial units in Sitarganj had boosted employment opportunities. He said the state government was focusing on the establishment of ITIs and polytechnics to provide technical education to students.
Also present on the occasion were former Cabinet minister Tilakraj Behad, former MLA Gopal Singh Rana, Narayan Pal and District Congress President Narayan Singh Bisht.
