Uttarakhand :  An Uttarakhand based feature film “Rajula” has been awarded with Best Film - Audience's Choice Award in the just concluded Delhi International Film Festival, 2012 which took place from 21st Dec to 27th Dec in New Delhi.
Rajula was earlier selected as official entry in the competition category of Delhi International Film Festival and premiered on 22nd December as the opening film of the competition category. The premiere was attended by top politicians from Uttarakhand like Shri Harish Rawat, IndraHridayesh, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Prasad Naithani, PradeepTamta, Mahendra Singh Mehra, and Ajay Bhatt along with advocate general, Uttarakhand U K Uniyal, BC Tripathi, chairman GAIL and other top industrialists from the state .

Rajula is the first film from Uttarakhand which has been selected and awarded at an International Film Festival. Rajula is inspired from the famous folk take of Uttarakhand "Rajula-Malushahi", a 700 year old story. Rajula is the modern interpretation of RajulaMalushahi and talks about the strength of women of Uttarakhand and their position in the society from male point of views.

Rajula stars Hemantpandey, famous film actor from Uttarakhand, Karan Sharma &AshimaPandey along with Chandra Bisht and Anil Ghildiyal

The film is written and directed by Nitin Tiwari and Produced by PriyankaChandola& Rama Upreti under the banner of Himadri productions.

The award was accepted by Film’s writer and Director Nitin Tiwari and Film’s lyricist and creative director Manoj Chandola during festival’s closing ceremony at sirifort.

On the occasion Nitin Tiwari dedicated the film to the strength of Uttarakhand’s women while Manoj Chandola spoke about the need of the hour to preserve Uttarakhand’s tradition, culture, music, literature and rich heritage
