Dehradun, November 20
Chairperson of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights Kushal Singh has called upon the government to frame rules and regulations for the implementation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
Chairing a meeting here recently, Kushal Singh urged the government to frame rules and regulations, so that children in the state could be protected from sexual assault.
For the past eight years, the government has not undertaken any survey to ascertain the number of children engaged in labour.
Earlier, he also visited the office of the state child rights panel in Dehradun and held discussions on several issues.“We apprised the Chairperson about the need to undertake a survey. According to our assessment, local children are engaged as child labour during the Char Dham Yatra. As a result, the government needs to take steps to check the menace,” said Ajay Setia, Chairperson, State Commission of Protection of Child Rights.
