Cuts being imposed to meet shortage
Dehradun, November 20
The state's power availability today stood at 30.50 million units (MU) against the demand for 31.94 MU.
Sources in Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited said out of the 30.50 MU, 8.48 MU were generated in state powerhouses and the rest came from the Central sector and other sources.
At present, power generation is not taking place at the Khatima powerhouse. Thus, to meet power shortage, cuts are being imposed across the state.
Over three hours of cut was today imposed in the rural areas of Udham Singh Nagar and of two hours in other small towns of the Kumaon divisions. Rudrapur, Roorkee and Kashipur witnessed power cut for one hour each. Meanwhile, the power corporation is trying to purchase power from other sources to meet the shortage.
