Concerned about delays and cost-overruns in infrastructural projects, the sports department has asked the sports directorate to ensure that the forty-bed girls' hostel gets completed on time. The hostel is currently under construction in Haridwar district. 

After the government order issued on December 18, the sports department released the pending amount of Rs 79.40 lakh for the building's construction. The department had sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the project. The department asked the directorate to adhere to certain conditions on how to spend the money. The department's additional secretary, Sailesh Bagoli, asked the directorate must complete the work without any delays or cost-overruns. 

Department sources said that it has been made cleear that no more funds will be sanctioned for the project. The directorate has also been asked to carry out regular inspections at the construction site. 

Sunil Dobhal, Haridwar district sports officer, told TOI, "Most of the construction work has been completed and we are making sure that the project gets completed on time," 

The department has urged the directorate to conduct a technical feasibility study with either the forest or irrigation department for a check dam to deal with problems of water scarcity at the hostel.
