Chamoli: 19 July, 2015
A mild intensity earthquake measuring 4.0 magnitude jolted Chamoli district and its adjoining areas in Uttarakhand on Sunday morning.
According to Meteorological Department, the tremor was recorded around 5:18 am.
Landslides occurred due to heavy rains that have blocked several main roads in the region.
Moreover highway to Gangotri and several links to Yamnotri have got blocked which has brought the traffic to a halt. Also, villagers in Mori and Uttarkashi are using rope bridge for commuting after roads were damaged. Though no casualty has been reported so far, further details are awaited.
