Anganwari workers of Pithoragarh subdivision today boycotted work demanding the status of government employee and a consolidated pay of Rs 15,000.

The protests were also reported from Moonakot, Munsiyari, Berinag, Ganai, Gagoli and Dharchula. “We are demanding a consolidated salary of Rs 15,000, a hike in honorarium for sahayikas,
recruitment against vacant posts of Mukhya Sahayika, Diwali bonus, relaxation in age for recruitment and summer and winter vacations,” said Lilawati Joshi, who led the protest in Champawat.
The agitators said they would continue the protest till their demands were fulfilled. “If the government forced us to call off the agitation without accepting our demands, we, along with our families, will stage a dharna,” added Joshi.
