President of the state BJP Teerath Singh Rawat yesterday said the government should focus more on the tourism sector and popularising ayurveda.
He was speaking at a seminar on “Uttarakhand: Scope and challenges” organised by the BJP intellectual cell at the state party office.
He said the hill districts should be divided into five zones to ensure the overall development of neglected and remote areas. He stressed the need for establishing small-scale industries.
Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said Uttarakhand had huge potential in herbs and medicinal plants. He said steps should be taken to popularise ayurveda.
JP Semwal, Shriram Verma, Vijay Pal, Sadhna Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Manju Srivastava and SK Dhyani were present on the occasion.
