Even as heavy rainfall has lashed the city in the past 48 hours, the Meteorological department has predicted heavy showers at isolated places, especially in the hilly districts, in the next 48 hours.

As per the forecast, showers are likely at the foothills of Uttarakhand, beginning from Kumaon region and extending over to the Garhwal region.

As per a report in Times of India, giving details, Anand Sharma, director, Meteorological Centre, said, "An atmospheric circulation is in place over Punjab and Haryana and a fresh western disturbance is approaching. Heavy rainfall will lash Uttarakhand and districts of Pithoragarh, Champawat, Almora, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri. Rainfall is likely to hit Garhwal region too."

As per the warning issued by the MeT department, the districts are likely to receive rainfall between 64.5 mm to 124.4 mm during this period.Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in the state on June 18 and 19.

Notably, several places in Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, witnessed heavy downpour last week wherein more than 100 mm rainfall was recorded in a day.
