The Bada Bazar Vyapar Mandal has extended support to the mela administration in the ongoing anti-encroachment drive.
Mandal president Arvind Babli, along with other office-bearers, yesterday inspected the market and asked shopkeepers to remove encroachment.
“The Kanwar fair beginning from August 1 witnesses a hush rush of Lord Shiva devotees. Since the fair benefits traders a lot, it’s our responsibility to cooperate with the administration and provide better services to Kanwariyas. We have urged traders to remove encroachment, if any, at the earliest,” said Babli.
General secretary of the mandal Himanshu Sharma said this step had been welcomed by a majority of trade union members.
Meanwhile, SP (city) Surjeet Singh Panwar, who is Kanwar mela police in charge, has appreciated the efforts of the traders.
He said other traders’ association should also take the initiative of getting encroachment removed in their area.
