Chief Minister Harish Rawat has ordered onions to be sold through PDS and wholesale markets at Rs 60 a kg.
The produce currently costs Rs 70 a kg at retail markets.
Ration shops have also been directed to not to sell more than two kgs of onions to an individual per day.
“Onions should be bought in the Garhwal region from Dehradun mandi whereas in Kumaun region it should be bought from Rudrapur Mandi, Rawat said.

Meanwhile, food department hoped the prices would go down in a month after new scrop of the produce hit the markets from Nashik.
