Under the aegis of Sai Swayam Society, New Delhi, in association with Dev Bhoomi Deaf and Dumb Association, an employment fair was organised for the hearing and speech impaired here today.
Unemployed deaf persons, hailing from Haridwar, Dehradun and other districts, took part in the job fair at a city hotel near the Chandracharya square.

Meera Bhatia, Chief Executive Officer of Sai Swayam Society, who has been awarded for her social works, said they had been working for deaf and dumb people actively and held such job fairs regularly.

Besides job opportunities, they provided differently abled persons skill-based training too, she said.
“We have provided employment to about 1,550 hearing and speech impaired persons through these job fairs and skill-based training programmes. This is the first such fair in Uttarakhand and we hope to hold such fairs in other regions of the state too,” Bhatia maintained.

Sandeep Arora, president of Deaf and Dumb Association of Uttarakhand, said the effort of the association is to hold job fairs for the physically challenged persons too.

Sign language expert Shruti coordinated the event and gave important information to the willing applicants about various job opportunities and careers.

Deepak Joshi, Atula Rathore, Sardar Montu, Mukesh, Praveen, Madhu, Pankaj Garg, PP Singh, Vikas Kumar, Ashish Naithani, Shekhar Singh, Dinesh, Vineet Negi, Narendra Singh, Saurabh Gupta were present.
