 In order to improve transport services in Uttarakhand, State Transport Department planned to install GPS system in the buses.
Authorities have started preparations for the pilot project regarding where the server room will be set  up in the state.
Anil Gupta, Vice President of the transport department said that nearly 1200 buses are operational in the state and the department fails to keep track of the number of vehicles. Even reasons for the delay in bus timings remain unknown. So, just to keep a track on all such reasons authorities have decided to install GPS system in the buses and laced the vehicles with modern equipments, he added.
By installing the tracking system it would be easy for us to inform the commuters about the exact timings and movement of buses to avoid inconvenience.

Officials said that soon GPS devices will be installed in some buses as a part of pilot project and for the trial purpose. On being asked about the budget of the project, he said that government is trying their level best to help residents get better transport services in the state. News 18
