CBI has registered a case in the Indian Army’s recruitment scam case. This is the case of 2016. In this FIR, the names of 41 suspects have been included. Of these, 34 are those who are currently deployed as soldiers in the Technical, Medical and General Branch of the Indian Army.
The CBI said that investigation of the case had just started last year. This recruitment took place in 2016. In the case, the suspects have been accused of using fake government machinery in association with local government officials and using them in recruitment. This action of the CBI has surfaced at the time when there is a debate about the deployment of women in important positions in the army.
Recently, Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that the government is working for a ‘coordinated attitude’ for the recruitment of women in the Army, Navy and Air Force. In this case, there is no uniformity in all three services. The government is ready to be given a permanent commission for women recruited in the short service commission.
Sitharaman had said that there is no uniformity among the armed forces about the recruitment rules for women. Although the women in the Air Force have come in the role of a combat pilot, which is being seen as the most important achievement, while women in the army are not seen in important positions yet.
Underlining the unity of the three forces, he said that women can not go to sea even in the navy working without gender discrimination. Meanwhile, the Union Minister emphasized that his government is very open minded about women coming to defense services and more and more women are coming to the forces.
However, she had also said that in some such cases the decision about the women is yet to come, where the temporary commissioned women went to court with the question of why they can not be given a permanent commission?
