The sale procedure of Rajkapoor’s 70 year old R. K. Studio has begun. The Kapoor family has made a decsion to sell off studio based in Chembur, Mumbai. Actually this studio was not being used much in the past, and the studio was not being hired by more people for shooting.

The studio was not running in profits, so the Kapoor family decided this decision together. This studio is built on about 2 acres of land and here Raj Kapoor has shot most of his films. One reason for not running the studio is that it is present in the area of Mumbai where the shooting is extremely low.

Most of the shooting ranges take place in film cities of Western lines & other cities and R. K. studio is present in the harbor line, which most people do not want to travel so far for the shoot. Kapoor family is in touch with builders, corporates and developers to sell this property and is preparing to sell it at the earliest. Last year this studio had a fire, which caused a lot of damage to the studio.

The decision to sell the R. K. studio was not easy for the Kapoor family. According to a report by the Mumbai Mirror, Rishi Kapoor said, “We have though a lot about it and taken the decsion with a heavy heart.”
