Now another scam has emerged in the 400 crore scam in NH-74 land compensation. This time the power line shifting scam has surfaced related to NH-74. It is alleged that the company contracted by the NHAI officials contracted to remove the electricity pole and wire on the edge of the national highway, made a huge scandal by combining with the departmental engineers.
In the case, departmental inquiry orders have been issued. Managing Director BCK Mishra has handed over the investigation of the case to Chief Engineer Kumaon. At the same time, after the compensation scam, a new scam has emerged and there has been a stir in the divisional officers.

According to reports in the NH-74 Power Shifting Scam, the company which had been given a contract of Rs 60 crore for shifting electric pole and wires, it joined with corruptUPCL officials and used old pole and wire. Whereas, according to the provisions of NHAI, new power pole and the wire have to be used while switching the power line.
Now after the episode has come to the fore, the top officials of the department have started the blame game. They say that NHAI has the full responsibility of shifting power line. NHAI has given contract to the company at its own level.

The role of the UPCL engineers is limited to the monitoring of power line shifting. However, the case is being investigated. Chief Engineer Kumaon has been made an Investigation Officer and he has been asked to submit the report as soon as possible. In the NH-74 land compensation scam recently, two IAS officers Pankaj Pandey and Chandresh Yadav have been suspended. In this case, many PCS officers including SLO DP Singh are in jail.

The episode has come to light and it is being investigated. Investigation has been entrusted to the Chief Engineer Kumaon. After receiving the inquiry report, further action will be taken. However, NHAI has given contract for power line shifting. UPCL has deposited 15 percent of the budget as a supervision charge. A UPCL executive engineer has been made the nodal officer. All aspects are being examined. If the discrepancies are found, action will be taken as per rules.
