Team India suffered a huge blow ahead of the 1st test against Australia in the form of Prithvi Shaw. India’s newest batting sensation twisted his ankle in a bad way while fielding in a warmup game.
On the third day of the practice match against Cricket Australia XI on the Sydney Ground, opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has been injured. The BCCI has tweeted that he is out of the first Test.
The board said, “Shaw’s injury reports have been issued on Friday and in this case, he will not be able to play against Australia in Adelaide in the first Test match starting on December 6. To recover from this injury, he will go to the rehabilitation. The 19-year-old Prithvi, who played an impressive 66 runinnings, was injured in an attempt to catch the ball at deep midwicket boundary while fielding. His left ankle is hurt.
With the support of Team Physio Patrick Farhart and another, he was taken to the changing room. After this, seeing Prithvi in pain he was taken to the hospital for a scan. Earlier, the BCCI had tweeted that the medical team was evaluating the injury of Prithvi Shaw.
India scored 358 runs in their first innings of the practice match. Apart from Prithvi (66), Captain Virat Kohli (64), Cheteshwar Pujara (54), Ajinkya Rahane (56) and Hanuma Vihari (53) scored half-centuries. In reply, Cricket Australia XI scored 304/6 in their first innings. Mohd. Shami has taken three wickets.
